Contaminated soil

Slettebakken deponi - Bergen

Slettebakken was the landfill for the municipality of Bergen from 1940-1961. In 2022 Bergen Kommune decided to remove ca. 125.000m3 of contaminated materials and clean the area for pollution. The contract was given to a joint venture between Veidekke and DEC called VeDeCi and they started the operation of separating and soilwashing of the masses.

The cleaning process resulted in recycyled materials, but also fractions like the filtercake from washing, outsorted waste and peat with waste.

WMR was engaged to handle these three wastefractions at landfills with special permit for such waste. Alltogether approx. 65.000MT was transported and final treated by WMR for this project.
