Bijela Shipyard - Montenegro
WMR was engaged by french company Valgo to take care of 35.000 MT of PFAS contaminated soils from the remediation of former shipyard Bijela in Montenegro.
The project was financed by the Worldbank and had been delayed for years due to the complex contamination of the soil being a composition of PFAS, heavy metals and organic components. We qualified the soilwashing plant Carmans Blue to successfully wash the soil in Belgium and reuse it as a secondary raw material after cleaning. The filter cake was sent for thermal destruction.
